The first concrete project of the center is to build a full implementation
of a quantum cryptography device. This covers both the physical
implementation of quantum transmission, and postprocessing of results based
on techniques from computer science. This is an application oriented
project, with a main emphasis on studying the practical potential of the
technology. Related to this are activities studying assumptions sufficient
for quantum bit commitment and oblivious transfer, and the relation between
classical and quantum cryptography.
In parallel with this, but as a longer term project is the study of quantum
computing from a computer science point of view and experimental activities
aimed at storage of quantum information.
